UK’s New Visa Launched: Benefits for Overseas Scientists & Academics


A new category of visa has been launched in the UK to encourage growth in the research and development sector. For South Asian countries like India and especially that of research scholars in Assam and the Northeast, this new policy will unfold a wide array of field and opportunities in research and development.
This allows individuals in entering the country through this scheme to stay up to 2 years in the UK. It has been lauded in India and the Northeastern region, where research scholars were facing difficulties in getting work or study visas for a long time.

The GAE (also known as government authorized exchange) is the route by which professionals, who wish to undertake work experience and training are able to enter the UK. The scheme will be operated by the UK’s research and innovation department.

UKRI, the scheme owner will monitor the sponsor organizations and they will also require the individual Tire 5 sponsor licenses. The UK government said that the new scheme demonstrates its commitment to make the country “open, globally-trading “nation.
