ETHICS AND MORALITY -CAN’T BE
TAUGHT IN CLASSROOMS
The
ethics and moral of a person can be seen and can be defined by his action and
values with which he lives in society. Very often the moral is based on the
lesson which he learns from society.
Morals
are the guidelines that one follows in his professionals as well as in personal
life whereas Ethics are the standard of conduct expected by the group of
society from which one belongs and ethics takes care of it. These values and
principles decide or provide a correct analysis of one’s way of thinking and
the idea he implements while solving the problems of society or the way he
looks at the problems of society as a whole.
Nowadays
as society is getting modernized these topics are getting omitted in some
manner and to retain them in society many educational institutes have started
including them in their courses and curricula to teach them to the youth.
SOCIETY- the best teacher of ethics and morals.
Ethics
and morality, no one learns it in any book, these values and principles get
taught by society itself. In a civilized society, they have their set of moral
rules those guides the people action and behaviour, it taught that how they
ought to conduct themselves. These testaments not only get applied to the
action of people but to their attitudes and motive also. Every society has its
own different set of moral rules.
In
childhood before admitting a kid to formal school education, the family teaches
that kind those ethics and moral values those are supposed to be required in
his house, school, and in society too. Afterward, school plays a very huge role
in shaping up a person’s mind worldwide view and ways of looking toward the
happening of society around him.
Although
it is all impact of social values, he learned to take him forward in giving
shape to the standards and code of ethics. Then whatever decision he takes,
whatever option he chooses when it becomes the matter of societies wellbeing,
then it all shows what he had learned from the community and in what kind of
community he comes from.
Because,
men, is a social animal and he is supposed to learn the things, taught to him
by the society and the way it works.
Now
talking about the classroom knowledge of ethics and morality so it only taught
theoretical knowledge and understanding but ultimately the practical and
implementable knowledge gets taught by the society itself.
Many
management colleges have come up with courses on ethics because they believe
that in professional life, forces and pressure of the market make a person
easily forget his moral values for small gains.
It
is not easy to change a person’s moral build-up just by teaching dozens of
courses in the classroom unless they are exposed and embolden to implement the
knowledge in a practical way out in society. Until they are given that chance
and initiative to get involved in social issues and instructed to use their
theoretical knowledge and understanding in solving the problems.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN PRESENT SCENARIO?
Earlier
these five principles of American ethicist were common to all the society
worldwide. DO NOT HARM; MAKE THINGS BETTER; RESPECT OTHERS; BE FAIR; BE LOVING.
But
today it is always greeted that people are losing the importance of social
ethics and moral values and they are not getting taken seriously as they were
earlier because of this fast-developing world and because of this process of
modernization.
In
today's scenario, everyone is having competition among them and everyone have
longing to win by hook or by crook, and in this highly competitive market, it
is forcing everyone to set aside their morals and ethics and take a step
forward toward greed and jealousy.
As
in this material world if one decided to work outside the rules and values then
the gains afterward are manifold, so this temptation of setting morals and
values aside gets agitated in high flame. Which eventually leads to number of
corruption cases, murders, rape, and terrorism.
ROLE CORPORATE SECTOR IS PLAYING?
Many
corporate houses are carrying this corporate social responsibility program for
the betterment of society and to embrace the surrounding of their corporate
houses also. They have taken up CSR as an integral part of their business
policy as a symbol of responsibility toward society.
CSR
is a process with the aim to give a positive impact through performing certain
activities on the environment, consumers, society, and all other members of the
surrounding.
CONCLUSION
While
concluding the article we want to say that, our ethics and moral values play an
important and huge role in shaping our human nature and making us more humane
toward the suffering of society. It is mandatory not to forget our moral values
and ethics ever for any material things which are there to provide happiness
for some time. no matter how much famous and rich we become, we can never
forget our responsibility toward society which has played an immense role in
giving shape to our persona. The thing which always matters most is our
BEHAVIOUR AND ACTIONS TOWARD THINGS AND SITUATIONS.
