A lot of students aspire to become a doctor. This profession allows the candidate to maintain a prestigious social and professional life, also, allow them to serve a lot of people as well as make a lucrative income. Planning and preparation to become a doctor starts much earlier not later than your high schooling. Path of becoming a doctor is never going to be easy. One must be a quick learner and need to sacrifice a lot in life to become a doctor.

Steps to become a doctor

Secondary School Education
One must opt for subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology in high school. To apply for the MBBS program one must have completed 17 years, but must not be older than 25 years. 

Graduation

The basic and foremost degree to become a doctor is MBBS. It is a 5 and a half year course that will conclude with a year of internship that is compulsory. 
Entrance examination

The foremost and most important examination is NEET examination. This examination conducted by the Central Board Of Secondary Education in India. NEET examination ranking decides which colleges you can join.
Other than NEET the following institutions conduct their own entrance examinations -JIPMER, AIIMS, Armed Force Medical College, Lady Hardinge Medical College, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Kasturba Medical College, Maulana Azad Medical College, Christian Medical College.

Specializations
After the completion of  MBBS one must pursue a Masters course to specialize in a field of medicine. The common entrance examination for various PG Diploma courses is NEET PG. Who so ever pursue MD becomes a physician while MS candidates will become surgeons.
