Strong leadership skills are important to make a company grow and reach heights. Listed below are some of Indian women CEOs who brought about a revolution in the industry with their methods.
Sharmistha Dubey
51-year-old, Sharmistha Dubey is the present CEO of the Match Group. It is a company worth $40 billion and has important technology which helps in the operation of dating apps like Tinder, Hinge and PlentyOfFish.
She was born in the city of Jamshedpur. During her early days, she never possessed leadership skills as she used to shy away from doing things. But she called this as a great turnover as she began to observe different behavior of those around her. She joined the Match Group almost a decade ago and became the CEO in 2020. She is an engineering graduate of IIT and has done her MS from Ohio State University.
Revathi Advaithi
Revathi Advaithi is the current CEO of Flex which is one of the world’s largest manufacturing companies. It has followed large global supply methods. She upgraded to becoming the CEO of the company in the year 2019. She is also a member of the MIT Presidential CEO Advisory Board.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India and an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona. She was very smart since her young days and found various environmentally friendly methods to get manufacturing solutions.
Jayshree Ullal
Jayshree Ullal is the CEO of Arista Networks. The firm was started in the year 2008 and revolves around computer networking. Due to her efforts, she was listed among the 72 self-made women billionaires in the world back in 2008.
She was brought up in Delhi and did her electrical engineering from San Francisco State University. She has a history of working with great personalities and firms like Fairchild Semiconductor, Cisco and AMD.
Sonia Syngal
Having both Canadian and Indian roots, businesswoman Sonia Syngal is the CEO of Gap Inc., which is a native American worldwide clothing and accessories brand. She was listed under the Fortune 500 company of most successful Indian American CEOs.
She pursued her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University. Her PG course was manufacturing systems engineering from Stanford University.
Leena Nair
The French luxury house, Chanel has its global CEO as Leena Nair. She was the chief human resource officer (CHRO) of Unilever before she took up the same role in Chanel.
She pursued electronics engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli and pursued management from XLRI, Jamshedpur. She scripted history by becoming the first female and first Asian chief human resources officer of the company, at the age of 52.
Anjali Sud
Anjali Sud is the CEO of Vimeo, a software company that serves video content creators. The company which started in the year 2017, saw major turnovers after the became the CEO. Although it was initially decided to create original content, it started giving a heads up to other creators to expand the business. She did her MBA from Harvard Business School.
Ankiti Bose
Ankiti Bose co-founded and is also the present CEO of Zilingo, which is a multinational startup. It works on e-commerce models and is one of the largest B2B e-commerce companies in Southeast Asia. The 29-year-old was featured in Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 list in 2018 and in Fortune’s 40 Under 40 in 2019. She studied mathematics and economics at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
Padmasree Warrior
Padmasree Warrior is the CEO of fable, which provides reading material for mental wellness. She is considered to be one of the most powerful women in tech. The company which was founded in 2019 and saw major turnovers in just 3 years.
She was also the Chief Technology Officer of Cisco and Motorola. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from IIT Delhi and a master’s degree from Cornell University.
