Assuming positive intent: A way to live life

Assuming positive intent: A way to live life

Assuming positive intent is a strategy for shifting your perspective on the other person, thinking that the person you meet shares your desire for a positive outcome.

Most of the time, we are quick to pass judgement on others, resulting in a change in our attitude toward them and breaking down relationships and trust. We look for messages that confirm our assumptions and ignore those that don't. Assuming positive intent is not common but the best thing to have in life. It makes things easy and is a powerful tool for a healthy and envy-free life.

Benefits of having a positive intent:

Positive intent entails making the best assumptions and approaching situations positively. It is a way of thinking where we believe that we all our doing our best.

A positive outlook has many perks. It reduces stress and tension in the workplace and makes the environment more open. As a result, people tend to open up, improving communications and building relationships, which aids in getting the work done more efficiently.

Tips for avoiding negative assumptions:

1. Avoid the "they should have"trap -

Most of us are quick to judge others; we make assumptions or become frustrated about what the other person should have done. Based on limited information, we make assumptions.

Assuming positive intent gives us a sense of optimism, confidence, and the motivation to work hard. Instead of passing judgement, we should be curious, open, and listen because there is always something to learn from everyone.

2. Stop thinking negatively about others-

We frequently believe that people do not have our best interests in mind, which leads to us harbouring negative feelings toward others.

Relationships flourish, and things become easy and less stressful in the environment, assuming positive intent until proven otherwise.

3. Managing Anger -

It is natural for all of us to have anger issues at some point in our lives. When we start with a negative intention, we are angry. When we take the anger away, instead of sulking and being depressed, we start to work and try to improve the situation.

You can control your anger by breathing to the count of ten, talking to someone you trust, identifying what triggers your anger, and experimenting with different mindfulness techniques.

Having a positive intent

Positive intentions cause us to be calm, cool and collected, which makes us more productive and increases our emotional quotient.

Make things work better in the workplace, improve relationships, build trust, and can have a powerful impact on business, leading to success.
