COVID- 19 and the world: changes happened and various studies

COVID- 19 and the world: changes happened and various studies

COVID- 19 is the most dramatic pandemic of the recent decades. It made a vast change in the total world in many ways. It created a drastic change in the world population, health systems, food chain, and in working sectors. The pandemic also created a major depression in the world economy and as well as a disarrangement in society. It took many million into severe poverty and unemployment. The pandemic gave a shutdown to many business firms, which resulted in unemployment of a major part of the world.

This unemployment and poverty also created a severe change in the world’s health. Poverty led to less access to food, which gradually led to malnutrition of a large part of the world. Also the poverty created a threat of lack in social security in many nations.  Also migrant workers face a threat for their lives, because of the unemployment created as a result of the pandemic.  Now days, they find it very hard to get food for themselves as well as for their families.

The outbreak of the COVID- 19 led to the closing of many borders including international, national and also local ones. This affected the food supply in the world. System of the food transport was turned upside down by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic outburst. This also led for malnutrition of many of population by the increase in the price value of available food products. Many farmers across the world were forced to sell their harvest in absolute loss, due to the limitations for transporting these products. Also many farmers destroyed their crops by the loss they were forced to face.

The pandemic had also made changes in the working systems of the world. Economic depression created by the pandemic took safety in living to a pathetic condition. Low wages for works are now again becoming common. The studies say that women are facing much more with the low-wages and insecurity in the works. Along with that all allowances like health supports, child allowances, accommodation aids etc. are cut off in works. This also creates lack of security for working people. The closing of schools and online teaching also put an end before the free and healthy school meals, which were provided for students in the earlier days. This in result also created severe malnutrition among students.

Now organizations like World Health Organization (WHO), International Labour Organization (ILO), Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) are conducting studies about the changes created in the world by the COVID -19 pandemic.  And, all these organizations suggest for global solidarity and support for rebuilding the world. Without the unity and help of other nations, under developed nations cannot find any way to manage these crisis situations. The Secretary General of United Nations opines that the world, with harmony can build a better world, than the one before the pandemic. He suggests for developments in agriculture and health sector, which lasts for long periods. Also he says that problems like rural poverty, protection of migrant workers should get enough importance by the respective governments of all nations.  Without sustainable developments, rebuilding the world after COVID will not become successful.  Providing enough food, safe shelter, proper health and protection for the population should be the first priority for all governments after this crucial pandemic situation.
